The Broken Jug

So, my husband has one of those 5 gallon glass milk jugs that he keeps spare change in.

Well, the other day the kids needed quarters for something, so as I usually do in that situation, I went to the milk jug to get a few. As I tipped the jug on its side to shake some coins out, I heard a loud pop and realized all the coins were spilling out the side of the jug! Somehow a circular section about 4 inches in diameter shattered.

We haven't picked the coins up yet, mainly because Eric says he won't pick them up until he has a replacement jug. Yesterday I got an email from him: subject line "You Owe Me One Of These" and this link in the body.

Yesterday he came home from work, walked over to his dresser to put down his wallet, and then walked over to the pile of change and dropped his spare pennies into it. It was so funny seeing pennies drop from the hand of the meticulous Eric Mosley on to the bedroom floor, as if that was where they belonged. The coin pile has inspired conversations like this:

Eric: You still owe me a jug.

Me: I got your jugs right here.

Eric: Those don't hold quarters

I don't know, it kind of looks artsy to me. Like some kind of cool abstract sculpture....like it's supposed to mean something really deep.

Will she ever buy him that jug? Will the coin pile ever be cleaned up? Will there eventually be an ER visit because someone forgets the broken shards of glass under the coins?

My 6'4" Boomerang

So I've mentioned my husband's greatest gift before; the confidence and speed at which he can turn an argument around on you. Not many people can out-word me, and even fewer can out-confidence me, but Eric Mosley comes closer than anyone.

Here's another great example:

One night Eric fell asleep before me. I was reading, and by the time I was ready to go to sleep, he was snoring like a grizzly bear deep in hibernation. Usually a gentle kick or a little push will be enough to get him to roll over, making the snoring stop.

So I nudged him on the shoulder to make him roll over. He woke up a little bit and mumbled, "Why are you pushing me??"

I said, "I can't sleep because you're snoring so loudly!"

He mumbled, quick as wink though still half asleep, "Well, I can't sleep when you're criticizing me!"

I couldn't stop laughing in amazement at his skill. Even in his sleep he's a word boomerang.

He'll Win Even With His Brain Tied Behind His Back

One of my husband's best qualities is his quick thinking ability. He can shoot a zinger that turns an argument back around on you in no time flat. I learned the other night he's so good at that he can do it in his sleep.

He fell asleep long before me, and by the time I wanted to go to sleep he was snoring loud enough to wake the dead. I shoved him in the shoulder to get him to roll over, which usually stops the snoring. He mumbled the following:
Eric: What are you doing?
Me: Roll over!
Eric: Why?
Me: I can't sleep when you're snoring.
Eric: Well, I can't sleep when you're criticizing me.
I laughed out loud and feel asleep marveling at his skill. I reminded him of this exchange yesterday and he didn't remember it at all. But he was very proud of himself for it.

Nothing Says Football Like Phil Collins

Eagles/Bears game last night. Just before the game starts and in between quarters, party music is pumped through the stadium. Usually classic 80s rock anthems and such. Last night, just after a high point in the game, a touchdown maybe, the music starts blasting again. But something was off. I almost snorted by Diet Pepsi when Eric turned to me and said:

"Ah, a little "In The Air Tonight" always gets me pumped up."

Guess I'm A Cat 5

Before I left for Panama City, I said to Eric:

Me: Hurricane Rina is headed for Mexico, aren't you worried for me??

Eric: No. I'm more worried for the hurricane.

Google Is My Blind Spot

Me: Whenever I wake up and the lights are off, I have a huge blind spot in my right eye. I mean, it's so big that it's as if I have a patch over that eye. But as soon as I turn the lights on, the blind spot goes away. It's like night vision blindness or something.

Me: I was Googling it to try to figure out what it is.

Eric: Um, did you ever think of Optometrist-ing it??

He Funny

I came home from practice last night to find Eric in bed, reading on his laptop.

Me: Hi love! What are you doing?

Eric: Steve Jobs is dead, iGrieving.

These Are The Moments

Eric and I were having a fun conversation the other day. He tried to make a "moment" out of it, and of course I couldn't swallow my response:

Eric: I love making you laugh.

Me: And I love laughing at you, so we're perfect together.

Um, Gas Stations Will Patch Your Tire For $3

I'm on many Pennsylvania homeschool and cyber school email lists. I receive tens of emails per day with educational resources, field trip information, and general information. Sometimes someone on a list will email something off-topic; information about a yard sale, a prayer request for a family in trouble, etc. Most of these emails get deleted, I scan them and quickly decide whether the information contained within has any bearing on me.

The off-topic emails rarely catch my attention, but the other day I received one that I knew I had to save and share. Background; I don't know this woman at all. She's from a group in Pittsburgh, I think. But remember, she sent this out to a statewide email group. I would venture a guess that 98% of the people who received this email had no idea who this woman was. You have to read this email slowly, preferably out loud with expression. Names have been changed, but the coo-coo-kachoo-edness remains.
"Just want to post an update...I apologize to anyone that has already seen
this, as it is a multiple post to fb and my online groups. So, wow....we have been going thru some stuff! I will start with my husband and work my way down thru the family and onto the other stuff...warning, this will be long...

Dick had to go back to the hospital again, they only kept him overnight this time, but he passed out in our Walmart parking lot...scary. Had all the kids with me. Good thing is, our oldest son, Bobby, was in the back praying (God don't let my dad die, God don't let my dad die) all the way to the hospital. I am incredibly thankful we were only 5 minutes away and that God gave me the insight to call the ER so they were waiting for us. His blood sugar and blood pressure had both dropped. We are getting an insurance check for Dick being a "long term disabled" ...praise God for that! Unfortunately, we have another 2 weeks before we get it. Still waiting on the hearing date for social security.

I have to have physical therapy on my back. The doctor says that I should be better in about 6 months or so, but that was with physical therapy 4-5 days a week. The rehab by me only does them 3 times a week, so we will see how that changes. I go for my evaluation and first therapy appointment this week. I also have an appointment to see the doctor for my right elbow...looks like it needs surgery. I know these things all are going to come together for the Glory of God.

Sue is still having difficulty with her left side going numb...we have had multiple blood tests, an MRI, and CT scan. We go this week to the Neurologist at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh (she has an appointment the same day at Children's for allergies). She is trying to finish up her health and Spanish from last school year (cyber school) as well.

Bobby has been having a terrible time with emotions and paying attention. His chores were not getting done, he was irritating his siblings, and just not listening. We took everything from him, but through prayer and some guidance from those God has put in our lives, we have realized a lot of it is the stuff that has been going on with Dick. He is so close to his dad, and this has taken a serious toll on him. I have decided to alternate chores every month. That way the three oldest will become adept at keeping house and if anything would happen that I cannot do things, I will know they can keep it somewhat in order.

Liza Mae has terrible anxiety. Made worse by what is gong on with Dick. However, her program is moving forward. More about that later...

Bill and Fred are normal (well, somewhat normal, Bill has been diagnosed with PDD/NOS or high functioning autism)...but have been fighting constantly. And hurting each other...as a matter of fact, all the kids have been fighting. I know, deep down, it is mainly from all the stress, but there are days I just want to run away...lol...not that I would ever leave my family, but the thought does cross my mind.

Our house has gone into forclosure. I got the papers from the sheriff last week. It is scheduled for sheriff's sale November 14. I am trying to work with the mortgage company for some kind of program that will allow us to keep our house, but could use a TON of prayers. Dick is incredibly stressed about it. We are both trying to keep the faith, but, sometimes....well, you understand.

Our van is in need of tires and something is going on with the right front wheel...and the right rear has a puncture. Dick sealed it, but it is still leaking. Needs fixed, but no cash...so just praying it all holds up. This is our only vehicle, and I do not want to have to resort to calling the Medicare taxi for his dialysis trips....only because sometime it is very late, and sometimes you have to wait HOURS to get picked back up...and the dialysis unit closes right after Dick is done. He is the last patient.

I have been working on things for my space at Craftique. It is very empty, and I think that is one of the reasons sales haven't been good. I got a custom order for letters, and am trying to get it done for tomorrow so I can drop them off at the shop and get some $$$ in for them!

Today, in church, the paster taught on WAITING. WOW, what an encouraging, yet convicting word! We had gotten a prophesy almost 12 years ago, that what I went through with my oldest daughter, Sue, would be used to minister and help others. A few months later, another prophesy, that satan had tried to kill Dick and had not succeeded, his work was not done. Another one, a few years after that, "what your are looking for you will not find in man", about 2 years ago, another prophesy, again, to do with not being in poverty any longer, and always having enough for all we need and more, as well as that my husband will have his own business....and finally, about a year ago, that we will be ministering as a family. Now, first, I try all "words from God" according to THE Word of God...and I know it was God speaking to us each time. None of the people that prophesied over us (generally, my husband and I together) knew us. We did not seek out a prophesy, were instead called out by God to receive His word for us. I admit...about a year ago (a little after the last prophesy) I started questioning these "words"...and God brought tapes and cd's to me that had recordings of these prophesies, and I was able to compare them...all confirmed each other...so, I know it was from God.

But, I started complaining, in my spirit, a little over 6 months ago. And when things really started going downhill for us, financially, physically, and at times, spiritually, I asked God, "WHEN? When is it OUR turn? When are the words your spoke thru your servants going to come to pass? I am tired of fighting, and getting really
frustrated....when are we going to get a break?" Well, as God spoke to my spirit today, I am part of the reason our "time" hasn't come yet. This is my, our, my family's waiting period. I need to be using this time for HIS glory, not complaining, murmering, and getting aggravated with God, my husband, and my family. So, this leads me to the last part of my update..."

Jane then went on to talk about a charity that she's starting, and asked for charitable donations to help get it up and running. She gave her paypal account email to make it easier to send $$.

I read this email out loud to Eric on the way home from Cape May on Sunday, and we must have laughed for a good hour. I can't even begin to write out all of Eric's funny comments, there were way too many. I do remember that when I got to the prophesy paragraph, Eric almost crashed the van yelling, "HOLD UP! Go back and re-read that part, I think my brain just exploded..."

WHO TELLS AN ENTIRE STATE OF STRANGERS ABOUT ALL OF THIS PRIVATE FAMILY BUSINESS?? Oh, people who want attention and money, that's right. I can't even stand it.

Word Wars

A conversation between my husband and I the other day. It's word wars like these that make me fall in love with him all over again.

Me: I'm done talking to you now.

Eric: Why???

Me: You're annoying me.

Eric: No, I'm being thought provoking.

Me: If that were the case, that would be great. I love thought provoking conversation. But as it is, you're just being provoking.

Eric: Exactly, and I'm putting a lot of thought into how to best provoke you. Thought provoking.

Typical Monday Night

I know this scene has played at your house before, right??

I'm sitting in the bathtub trying to remove my Ke$ha-esque black and platinum hair extensions while watching past seasons of Sex and the City on my laptop. Eric is standing in the doorway of the bathroom in his underwear telling me in wildly excited tones about how while I was gone he hooked all the televisions in the house up to one of our old laptops, and he can now control that laptop from his Macbook, hence controlling all of the televisions from his Macbook. Every 20 seconds he pauses in his story to say, "Whoa, that is so weird" when I pull a weft of 24 inch long platinum hair from my head.

That's normal, right?

The Few, The Proud, The Mosleys

10 years ago today I stood in front of a judge at the JOP in East Greenville and enlisted to go into war with fellow soldier Eric Mosley. Today I will gladly re-up for another tour of duty. For though the battles have been great and the scars deep, we've always come out victorious. There's no one I'd rather be in the trenches with.

S'More Hotline

Best part of the Orlando competition this past weekend was Eric calling me while I was getting ready to compete to ask me this very important question:

"What is the proper procedure for making a s'more so that the chocolate melts?"

So funny. I'd left hot dogs and s'more ingredients at home so that Eric could have a cookout with the kids over the fire pit. Everyone I was with when the call came thought it was the "cutest thing I've ever heard!"

Peers???

From a conversation with my husband last night:

Eric: Ugh, what's with all this peer pressure from you?
Suzanne: It's not peer pressure, I'm far superior to you.

There's A Squid In My Bed

Typical conversation in the Mosley house:

Eric: Did you buy grape jelly?

Me: No, we already have a brand new one.

Eric: Where???

Me: Uh, in the pantry...big shock.

Eric: But I looked there and couldn't see it!

Me: Well, that's because...

Eric: *interrupting*...I know, I know, because I (said in his best Suzanne voice) "never move things around when I look for something."

Me: Exactly. You only ever look with your eyes, never with your hands.

Eric: Not true at all. I look at you with just my hands and not my eyes.

True dat, Mr. Octopus.

And Now, A Little Sugar For Your Coffee

Can't help but smile when I'm with my Valentine.

And for those of you looking for more sweet Valentine moments, here's one for ya: We attended Tri-County Bible's Sweetheart Banquet on Saturday night, with Mom and Dad and my brother and sister-in-law Andrew and Kathy, who brought their baby @LittleRFL, also known as Robert. Someone came up to Kathy at one point during the evening and asked, "Couldn't you get a babysitter tonight?". Kathy made a gracious comment, but then later said to us, "You know, after waiting 20 years for a baby, we just like taking him with us everywhere! He is our Valentine!"

>commence chorus of awws and sniffles<

(Bonus points for those who can pick out in which pictures I'm post postpartum...*shudder*, tragic)

Topsy Turvy

The balance of power is shifting in my household. I've been feeling very blah lately, I've lost all motivation to do anything

On the other hand, my husband's has turned over a "get up and go" leaf. It's a little disconcerting. Usually I can count on him to stay in bed until 8:30 every morning. Now, he's out the door by 7. It is kind of hot, though, when he's up early and whistling and ironing his shirt...

On the flip side, I doubt he's looking at me all depressed on the couch wearing pizza stained old pajamas, stuffing Doritos down my face, with hair that hasn't been washed since Christmas and thinking "that's kind of hot..."

I'm Not Inheriting The Earth

Poor Eric. Last night he walked in from work:

Eric: I've had a really bad day....I'd love it if you could just be meek right now.

Me: What??

Eric: You know, just agree quietly with everything I say tonight. Don't critique anything that I do. Fawn all over me and make me feel like you adore me.

Me: Baby, if I knew how, I'd certainly do that for you.

Eric: Yeah, I know. Even a single strand of your hair is tougher than anyone I know....

Extra Credit

My husband is learning. Last night I asked if he'd bring me a glass of ice water and a glass with ice and Diet Pepsi. He brought me a glass of water with just a few ice cubes, and a glass filled to the brim with ice and a can of cold Diet Pepsi.

A+ for him.
